Johnny Clarke and his 12-year-old son Shayon have a close relationship that is bolstered by their shared passion for music. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Victorville, California family stays home a lot and uses their spare time to learn new tunes and practice their instruments.
Shayon was overjoyed when Johnny surprised him with his own organ in March. Shayon has been playing the piano since she was 4 years old and enjoys using the church organ. She aspires to be a professional musician. Shayon said, “I was ecstatic to receive my own organ from my dad.” “I knew we could enjoy music and spend more time together.”
They practice their favorite gospel songs for several hours every day, but in September, a serious infection sent Johnny to the hospital. The entire family was terrified during this difficult period, but Johnny was committed to getting better and seeing Shayon and his four siblings again.
Shayon helped his father by keeping up the songs they had learned together while he was in the hospital. He remarked, “It was heartbreaking because I couldn’t see him and we couldn’t be together.” “However, I continued to play the organ in order to remember the songs he had taught me.”
After a few days, Johnny was returning home! Shayon made the decision to honor his father by performing a unique song in celebration. He played the song “Deliver Me” by Li’Andria Johnson while seated in front of his organ.
It’s evident from watching the video of this poignant occasion that Shayon puts all of his emotions into his songs. Maybe that’s why, in the middle of the performance, he suddenly breaks down in tears due to his overwhelming emotions! Shayon subsequently remarked, “I started crying because I thought I would never see my dad again, but he got ‘delivered.’” “I couldn’t contain my tears, so I just let it all out.”
Johnny shared the heartfelt video on Instagram, and it gained a lot of attention right away. It’s now affecting people’s hearts all across the world!
