This year’s top single of the holiday season is Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” which dethrones Mariah Carey’s beloved 1994 song “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
With her Christmas song, Lee,78, formerly known as Little Miss Dynamite, broke numerous records on Monday by peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
The 1958 holiday favorite was recorded while the vocalist was just 13 years old.
The 78-year-old has been celebrating “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” for 65 years before the news. This month, Tanya Tucker and Trisha Yearwood made appearances in the song’s first music video. She’ll also be on Christmas at the Opry on NBC.

Lee’s all-time favorite Christmas tune is now only the third holiday song to top the Billboard charts with its current position.
The song broke the record for the longest time between a single’s release and its highest rank when it hit number one. It also shattered the record for the longest interval between a single artist’s successive No. 1 hits.
Lee also broke the record for the oldest person to be at the top of the Billboard chart, at over 80 years old.
“It’s unbelievable that ‘Rockin’ is still at the top spot 65 years later—this is just so special!” Lee mentioned in a press release. “We appreciate all of the UMG/UMe team’s hard work in celebrating the song’s anniversary this year.” I would want to thank my loyal followers above anything else.

The fact that the song has resonated with many generations since it was released when I was a young adolescent is one of the greatest joys I have ever had. Cheers to Christmas and keep doing well!
Brenda Lee, you’re worthy! It’s high time you received some recognition for your popular holiday tune.
